Copenhagen Fashion Week: Runway show Rützou

Copenhagen 11-08-2010 | 20:00 | City Hall. I was really lucky and happy with my invite to the runwayshow of Rützou in the main show area: City Hall. The brand, based in Copenhagen, is an expressive and exclusive brand for women. Personally I dicovered this collection during a trip to London a few years ago and I was charmed by the novelty in the designs and beautiful detailing. Susanne Rützou has an extensive past within the Scandinavian design industry and has received numerous design awards in acknowledgements of her talent and accomplishments. Today, Rützou has 25 employees who handle all aspects of the fashion industry, from design and product development to sales and distribution. Rützou is sold in Scandinavia, across Europe and via selected agents in the U.S and Japan.

Fashionista attitude

Callette (Market Link) and me arrived soaken wet at the entry of City hall, the beautiful main runwayshow building. We had no time to stop for the rain running from Frost Birgens’ show to the Rützou show. Actually we needed to stand behind the seats around the catwalk/ stage which was build in the centre of this City Hall but we managed to slip passed the girls who addressed press and VIPS to their seats. We spotted 3 seats that were reserved for the Egypsian Embassy in Paris and Callette, who picked up on fashionista attitude quickly that night, said ” Oh they will no way see them tonight at the show”. So there they were: The perfect seats for us and Callette was right, we didn’t spot any Egyptians coming from Paris…..

Collection Rützou SS 2011

Rützou is all about being feminine in a very modern and ‘loose’ way.  The look, the designs, the fabrics and styling is detailed but not too much, sometimes tailored but all about draping and shapes, sexy but sophisticated and respecting the individuallity of all designs, together they tell the same story: it’s one collection. (And I surely like it!)
The colours are soft from warm grey to black to old rose and a touch of purple and emerald green, but also warm metal tones were used. Chiffon, voile, silk and satin were used as main fabrics. Prints were used more in a placed way then all-over. In a few outfits we saw blazerjackets in extra long or extra short versions, with a firm shoulder, but the main look is an above the knee, loose fitted, draped tunica silhouette (NO legging underneath!)  I liked the ‘racerback’ shape in some silk and satin dresses and tops and the flounces and drapes that detailed the short sleeves and seams. Rützou did not choose for pants in this collection but the satin, soft shiny, detailed pant and the golden lurex laced legging were very pleasing! In short: Wow!
