Copenhagen 12-08-2010 | 14:00 | City Hall. Jean//phillip is a fashion brand based in Copenhagen and founded by the designer Jean-phillip in 2007. The main focus of the brand is couture menswear. The signature is kind of edgy and minimalistic, with a slim cut, creating a subtle androgynous feeling. The classic tailoring, couture-like workmanship and attention to details are also a trademark of the designer and his work.
Coming from the delayed Peter Jensen show I needed to find a way to get from Gallery to City Hall. All taxi’s and VIP cars were taken and just as I thought that walking would be the best, I heard myself agree on a price of DK 100 to bring me to my destination by Riksja!

The Jean//phillip Autumn/Winter Homme 2010 collection is primarily based on a monochrome colour palette, the styles are developed on a minimalist look, which incorporates many layers, and detailed materials.
The classic Jean//phillip homme couture tradition with suit pieces can be recognized in some of the collection. Another of the designer’s signatures, a handpicked selection of experimental textiles, is also present. The collection blends leathers, stretch materials, wool, cashmere, silk, coated fabrics and knits. A clear line throughout the collection can be found in the asymmetric jackets, knitwears, sequins cuffs and jumpsuits. It surprised me to see how these ‘femine’ constructions and details (see the video!) could be used in a menswear collection and how that gives (hopefully!) a whole new flow of inspiration to the more commercial menswear collection we know. Bravo!
