Copenhagen 12-08-2010 | 16:00 | Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art. After a little research I could see Karl-Oskar and Brian Jensen have done well. The much-hyped crew from Roskilde´s graffiti milieu know how to shift hoodies like no other. The right logo, the right price and Denmark´s hippest streetwear takes off. Wood Wood were discovered internationally at February´s CFW and now boast two Copenhagen stores, one in Berlin and a collaboration with Adidas worths its weight in gold. That has turned sportswear into streetwear. In Amsterdam the Wood Wood collection is presented by CentreNeuf. So let’s check it out!
Wood Wood SS 2011
This was another kind of runwayshow. The public was being devided over 3 connected rooms in the Centre of Contemporary Art. Through the openings from one room to the other we could look at the public in the other room but we also were missing a total view on the ‘catwalk’ which I found a great idea.
It took me a few models to see that they were soaked. After being dressed the outfit was drained but not allways totally which gives a stained effect between the wet and the dry spots. I loved it but the day after I understood that the official Danish press was not at all amused about this presentation…(?!?)
The whole Wood Wood look to me is very basic yet very new. Through sportswear and streetwear items this brand presents us some interesting kind of city-nomads look. The ‘anti-models’ that showed the collection, the vagabond hair details and the watereffect gave me a hint of rebellion which I felt attracted to.
The collection showed a pallet of denim and chambray , nylons, a black kind of green, rolled up (big trend anyhow!) shorts, nice rucksacks, stripes, yellow, khaki/sand, stained fabrics and cheastprinted tee’s.
